My Day at Keski-Suomen Yrittäjät

As Masters Degree Student in International Business and Entrepreneurship (IBE) at University of Jyväskylä. It was an exciting opportunity to be a part of “Day at Work for International Students” at Keski-Suomen Yrittäjät (Federation of Finnish Entrepreneurs, Middle Finland).

I was sent an email a week before by Annika Mäkelä, project coordinator about a brief introduction about the federation and how it works.

My day at work started at 10:00 am, when I arrived I was greeted by the CEO Sanna-Mari Hynninen. Who was also a board member of JSBE. I was told to make a presentation about the business practices in India and explore the cultural aspects of doing business in India. I was able to do the same and explained the ‘Culture Shocks’ and similar Entrepreneurial Federation called CII (Confederation of Indian Industries). After a eventful discussion about different business practices in India and Finland with other lovely colleagues. We tried to put into perspective about different personality traits of Indian and Finnish Entrepreneurial styles. We also explored what kind of Finnish companies can make use of huge potential India can offer either in skilled labor or business able to benefit from reaching out to highly populated country.

At 12:00 PM, We had an amazing lunch with lovely colleagues of the federation on understanding different elements of social constructs and legislation in different countries.

After Lunch, I was asked to create social media posts for Federation, as they also have a wide base of English speaking Entrepreneurs. We strategized on how we can achieve higher presence to startups as well medium sized companies. We also discussed about how the English speaking member can be updated every month by a English posts and English speaking events.

This was a refreshing and a great Experience to understand how Finnish federation of Entrepreneurship could help local business achieve strength and also how collective efforts help to increase the organizational presence of SME sector in middle-finland.

Thanks for the Wonderful Opportunity. Hopefully I can add Value to the federation’s presence.
